The great thing about a mini trampoline is that it can be used both inside and outside. This begs the question then: what kind of footwear is most appropriate? Will certain shoes damage the trampoline pad? Is it safe to bounce in your bare feet? What about socks?
We’re here to answer these questions once and for all so that you can maximize your comfort while also being safe.
What You SHOULD Wear on Your Feet
Lets start by going over the footwear we recommend you DO use on your mini trampoline. Of course, you should first consult any documentation that came with your rebounder for specific instructions from the manufacturer.
Tennis Shoes
A pair of tennis, running, or cross training shoes are ideal for working out on a mini trampoline. They have enough traction on the soles to ensure you don’t slip, yet they are still soft enough to not cause damage to the trampoline surface over time. On top of that, these shoes offer good support for those that have weak arches or if you find your feet hurt after a round on the mini trampoline. These shoes are made for jumping, which will allow you to stay stable when bouncing your way to you fitness goals.
Bare Feet!
Even better than tennis shoes are no shoes. Your bare feet come equipped with a natural non-slip sole. You will also be able to feel the subtle changes in the surface of the mini trampoline which will allow you to adapt to changes in your bouncing pattern. Also, jumping on your naked feet will help strengthen your foot muscles that would otherwise not be used while wearing shoes. It really comes down to comfort and preference whether you choose to wear tennis shoes or leave your feet bare.
Vibram FiveFingers
An ideal compromise between bare feet and shoes come in the form of Vibram FiveFinger shoes. They may look funny, but they really do provide the non-slip grip of a shoe with the flexibility and subtle movements that come with barefoot rebounding!
